What is canvas UGC?
Canvas UGC is short-form video that creators post on new accounts made for one brand. The account is the canvas: it starts with no followers, and each video is shown to people based on how the last viewers responded. Creators are paid per video and by views, so pay follows reach.
You'll also see it called tech UGC, high-volume UGC, or ambassador accounts. It started with consumer apps that needed a constant stream of short video and couldn't get it from one brand account posting twice a week.
You give up the big follower count of an influencer post, and in return you get volume, control over the message, and an account that only ever talks about you.
Why a new account can outrun a big one
Short-video feeds rank the video, and the account matters much less. That changes what you should pay for.
- 01
Each post gets its own test
TikTok, Reels, and Shorts show a new video to a small audience and widen it if people watch. A strong hook on a day-old account can travel further than a weak one on a profile with a million followers.
- 02
One niche per account
An account that only posts SAT tips gets shown to students. Keeping every account to one audience teaches the feed who to send it to, which a general brand account can't do.
- 03
Your main handle stays clean
Tests, rough formats, and flops live on the canvas accounts. Your brand account only has to carry what's already proven.
Canvas UGC vs influencer posts vs UGC for ads
Three ways to pay creators for video. They solve different problems, and plenty of brands use more than one.
| Attribute | Canvas UGC | Influencer posts | UGC for ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it's posted | A new account made for your brand | The creator's own profile | Nowhere. You get the file |
| Followers needed | None. Each video is ranked on its own | Yes. You're renting their audience | Not relevant |
| How creators are paid | Per video, plus a bonus on views | Flat fee per post, priced on followers | Flat fee per video, plus usage rights |
| Typical volume | Hundreds of posts a month across a roster | A handful per creator | Batches for ad testing |
| Best for | Apps, education, and subscriptions that need steady reach | Launches and awareness bursts with a known face | Teams with a media buyer and budget to run it |
Six jobs come with every canvas program
A marketplace or tracking tool hands you the creators and the dashboard. The work in between still lands on someone's desk, usually a founder's.
We do all six. Your part is a 30 to 45 minute readout each week: what was planned, what was posted, what broke out, and what got cut.
- 01
Building a roster that keeps posting
Most creators are part-time, post fewer than 20 videos a month, and go quiet without warning. So volume means a wide roster with a bench behind it. We screen on a paid test video before anyone joins.
- 02
Setting up and niching each account
Each account gets one audience and one angle, so the feed learns who to show it to. An SAT account talks to students, and a health account talks to people taking charge of their health.
- 03
A script for every post
Briefs start from videos that already broke out in your niche, adapted to your product. Every note you give is kept, so the same correction never has to be made twice.
- 04
Checking every post went live
On accounts you don't log into, missed posts are invisible until someone counts. We count, and you see Planned vs Posted every week.
- 05
Paying on views
Creators earn per video once it clears 500 views, plus $1 per 1,000 views up to $300 a video. We track the views and run the payouts.
- 06
Kill or scale
After 10 to 12 videos per creator, the numbers decide. Breakouts get more briefs, strugglers get coached with what worked for someone else, and the rest get replaced from the bench.
What canvas accounts actually get
Numbers from two programs we run, including the part most case studies leave out.
- Typical video (median)
- 951
- Average video (mean)
- 2,310
- Videos under 500 views
- 21%
- Share of views from the top video
- 82%
The first three come from 598 tracked posts for Pursu, our own SAT app, across 31 creators and 2.3M views. The last comes from a telehealth campaign: 333 TikTok posts, 10.1M views, and one video that carried most of it.
Most canvas videos are modest, a few carry the program, and nobody can pick the winner before it posts. That's why volume matters, why we cut fast, and why videos under 500 views aren't billed.

Who canvas UGC is for
A good fit if…
- You sell an app, a program, or a subscription with a real back-end offer
- You want steady reach on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts without touching your main handle
- You can give 45 minutes a week to a readout
- You'll give it about three months to find winners
Look elsewhere if…
- You need fewer than 10 posts a month
- You want everything posted on your brand's main account
- You need guaranteed sales rather than a guaranteed engine
- You're pre-revenue

Canvas UGC questions
What is canvas UGC?
Canvas UGC is short-form video that creators post on new accounts made for one brand, rather than on their own profiles. The account is the canvas. It starts with no followers, and TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts rank each video on how people respond to it. Creators are paid per video and by views, so pay follows reach.
Is canvas UGC the same as tech UGC or high-volume UGC?
Mostly, yes. The three names describe the same model: brand-dedicated accounts, high posting volume, and pay tied to views. It grew up with consumer apps, which is where the name tech UGC comes from, and it works for any business that needs a steady stream of short video.
Do the creators need followers?
No. A new account has none, and that's the point. Short-video feeds show each post to a test audience first and widen it if people watch, so a good video on a new account can reach far more people than a weak one on a big profile.
Who owns the accounts?
It's agreed per engagement. Some clients want the accounts handed over at the end, others don't need them. Tell us what you need on the first call and it goes into the agreement.
How many videos does a canvas program need?
Enough attempts to find the few that break out. On one campaign we ran, a single video did 82% of all TikTok views, and nobody could have picked it in advance. We usually plan for hundreds of posts a month across a roster, and we don't take on programs under about 10 posts a month.
What does canvas UGC cost with Quizzy?
A flat $2,500 a month for sourcing, scripts, posting checks, and the weekly readout, plus $25 per video that clears 500 views. Creators also earn $1 per 1,000 views, capped at $300 a video. Videos under 500 views cost you nothing.
Can the winning videos run as ads?
Yes. Canvas accounts find the formats and hooks that work organically, and the winners, plus remakes of them, go to your ads team as ready-to-run creatives.
